Sun Set @ Suger Sea, Ibiza

Profile: Mr Ibiza, Steve has been around for along time, he's been there, seen it, got the t-shirt. He runs this site and a lot more, and yes he loves Ibiza. "Its the best place on earth, I get over every summer as often as I can". Need we say more?

Steve Jones musical career started from admirably humble beginnings, it was 1989 acid house music was playing a big part in his life searching for the latest underground tunes in basement record shop's all at the tender age of 14 years old. Playing them on a friend's dad's dusty old DJ console, you know the kind that cost around £20 and only came out at New Year parties. When walking in to his local shop telling his friends he's going to be the next Pete Tong, he was asked to play at a party. Well it was only a party for kids, but that's what started it all.

To try and make some money to pay for his unrelenting habit as a vinyl junky, over the next few years Steve was doing the party piece DJing at his local town hall playing everything from 18th birthday parties to golden wedding anniversaries. Not the coolest way to start but hay the lad couldn't even drive yet! So after those few years in the wilderness of the mobile jock, like so many before him Carl Cox etc. So began the real DJing.

Ibiza

After some time breaking in to the seen in Liverpool via the bars and then the clubs, Steve soon became known for his long cool typically more progressive/tech house style DJ sets. Which was heavily influenced by frequenting Cream @ Nation at every given opportunity. "Yes the glory years at Cream were a big influence on my DJing style, seeing the like's of Paul Oakenfold on a weekly basis will do that to you. Over the years I have heard some great DJs there over the years like back in 93 when I first seen proper DJs from the US, the likes of David Morales and Frankie Knuckles to name but a few.  They all played a strong part in my DJ style, but it was defiantly the later years at Cream that were the best for me, Oakenfold, Seb Fontaine and the local lad Paul Bleasdale. I had some great times there.

But to add to this Steve is also DJing with his some would say better half Natalie under the guise of Mr&MrsDJ. "Yes the Mr and Mrs DJ thing well I had no choice really. After dating Natalie for a number of years I started to teach her how to spin a few choons, I had no idea it would lead to what we have now it's great. It makes the whole DJing experience more interesting for the crown, its man vs. woman, who can win over the crowd. It has also given me more time to do other things like starting GBdjs etc."
